outrageous spin II
Microsoft Corp. representatives assert that Platforms Group Vice President Jim Allchin was “misunderstood”, according to Peter Coffee of eWEEK in his article “Microsoft clarifies exec’s open-source concerns“. Yeah, he really didn’t mean to imply that open software was “un-American” and that open source developers were criminals. Microsoft is not an altruistic organization; open source competes [...]

Elimination of ‘DLL Hell’, correction of fatal flaws, and reinventing the Internet
First, there was the Windows API and DLL Hell. Revolution #1 was … Read Ron Burk’s hilarious “A Brief History of Windows Programming Revolutions” (Editor’s Forum, Windows Developer’s Journal, December 2000). [update 2000-12-30]Because the “Editor’s Forum” URL is always for the current month, this is a local copy (with permission). [update 2009-03-21]My local copy of [...]

resignation
Well, the headaches, contusions, and bruises (refer to image in 2000-02 entry below) finally got to me; I’ve resigned (24 August, effective 31 October 2000 [actually mid November]) to take some time off, tend to all the personal stuff which I’ve neglected, and rediscover life in the real world.
