Department of Notification

Seal of the Department of Notification I often open junk snail mail just to see how bizarre it can be. Although this one was rather mundane, I was amused by the “Department of Notification” seal appearing as a faint background on the front of the sheet, and again (see the scan at left) in each of the four corners on the back.

I was of course impressed by this “official public notice”, in an official-envelope-brown envelope, ALL-CAPS SHOUTING, occasional grammar errors, and the fact that banks and major lenders had released these liens to be sold to the public by a carefully selected local dealership, one of just a few across the country.

The seal from the Department of Notification just sealed the deal, so to speak.
